Accurate volumetric calculations are critical when analyzing peptide literature. Two core unit systems must be mastered:
- 1Mass Relationships:
- 1Volumetric Calculations:
Example:
A 5 mg vial reconstituted with 2.0 mL of bacteriostatic water yields:
5 mg / 2 mL = 2.5 mg/mL (or 2,500 mcg/mL).
To withdraw a reference dose of 250 mcg:
Volume = 250 mcg / 2,500 mcg/mL = 0.10 mL.
On a standard U-100 insulin syringe (where 1.0 mL = 100 units), 0.10 mL equals exactly 10 units.
