While incretin peptides initially gained global recognition for glycemic control and obesity management, their therapeutic landscape is expanding into liver fibrosis and Metabolic-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH, formerly NASH).

In recent trial presentations, dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist tirzepatide and GCG-inclusive triple agonists demonstrated resolution of steatohepatitis without worsening of liver fibrosis in over 60% of biopsied patients. By resolving toxic intrahepatic lipid accumulation and dampening hepatic stellate cell activation, these agents address the primary pathogenic drivers of cirrhosis.
