What is Thymosin?

Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) was first isolated from thymus tissue fraction 5 by Dr. Allan Goldstein in 1977. Marketed internationally under the name Zadaxin, it is approved in over 30 countries as an immune adjuvant for chronic hepatitis B and C, and investigated in severe viral infections and oncology protocols. It exhibits potent pleiotropic immunomodulatory actions without inducing excessive cytokine release syndrome.

Biological Mechanism

Signals through Toll-like receptors (TLR9 and TLR2) on myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, stimulating maturation of naive T cells into Th1 CD4+ and CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes, increasing interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-2 (IL-2).
